Hungry little boy

As most of you know Vincent has to use a special formula that he wont drink so I'm nursing him. He does eat some baby food but it doesn't seem to really fill him up. He has been wanted to eat more than I can produce so I thought I would try and give him rice cereal again and see if I mixed it with baby food if he would like it better. That way he gets full when he eats. Well, I tried mixing it with all kids of baby food that he normally likes but he wouldn't eat it when I would put a tiny amount of the cereal in it. Travis went and got him some baby food that he hadn't tried but stuff that sounded good. Like bananas and strawberries and bananas and mixed berries. So I mixed some rice cereal in and he loved them. That bad thing he had an allergic reaction to them. He started having diarrhea and then I noticed blood in his stool so I took him into the doctors and he said it was most likely from the strawberries. Dang he actually liked them with the rice cereal. The doctor said I should stay away from giving him any kind of berry until he's older. So now I'm back to trying to find something that he will eat with the cereal. At least his diarrhea and diaper rash are all better. But he's still hungry all the time. Any suggestions?

Have you tried oatmeal? Or the mixed grains cereal? You might have better luck mixing those in a familiar food. Also you can try the cookies that dissolve on contact. Good Luck!

By the way--I love his hair!

I love the pic of him in the hat! SO CUTE!!! That is so hard when you can't find something that they like. Cole has had low iron for months and I can't get it up because he won't eat the vitamins! Have you tried apples or pears?

Can you give him like applesauce or really smooshed up bananas...those taste totally different than the baby versions. Maybe even steaming or boiling some fresh veggies (yams, carrots, etc) and throwing them in the blender (you can put them in ice trays and freeze them for later portions).

Just a thought to try and boost your supply. Eat lots of oatmeal(cookies work too!) and take fenugreek(an herbal supplement). It should help you produce more.
Have you tried feeding him yogurt? I feed M YoBaby yogurt and she loves it. It has cereal and fruit mixed in. If he hasn't had any reactions to dairy in your diet you may want to try it.

Poor little hungry guy!!! (AND poor YOU!!) It's so hard when they have so many limitations. Didn't the doctor have any better suggestions of what to try that he COULD have?? What's he thinking just giving you "no, no this... no that..."?? I'm so sorry! I remember reading about something that helped boost your milk supply but I can't remember what it was called. I'll try to find out. I'm willing to bet the Le Leche League would have some suggestions along those lines. (I know... you want to be HOOKED up to a baby or pump the REST of your LIFE!! LOL!)

Hang in there!! Love ya'!!

P.S. If you're looking to boost your supply, my lactation consultant says that Domperidone is the BEST (better than Reglan). I had to use it, and it helped me (I don't produce hardly any).

Amy- I can't believe how big your little boy is getting! He is so stinkin cute! I'm sorry about the hard time you are having getting him to eat food. That is definetly a bummer! I'm just a novice at this whole parenting thing sooo I have no good advice!

Hey Amy. I'm glad you have a blog so I can pretend like we still keep in touch.

People keep talking about oatmeal, and I can't remember how old Vincent is, but I was thinking... can he maybe try just some regular old instant oatmeal-- like the bananas and cream or something? I don't know if he'd choke on the little chunks at this point, but it's just a thought I had.

Hi Amy, this is Heather Hall (Now Ashcroft), do you remember me? I came across your blog while looking at Amanda Johnson's. You look really good. I was so sorry to hear about your little Whitney. Heidi actually told me about that awhile ago. She looks like such a special little girl. Your family is darling, little Vincent looks like a real champ. Glad you are happy and doing well. I think you are so amazing for having gone through the trials you've gone through and still being so strong. Hope all is well.
