Croup

This last week has been a long one. Starting about last Friday night Vincent hasn't been sleeping well. He wanted me to hold him while he slept or he would just cry. He has been pretty fussy during the days too. He hasn't been taking naps and sometime he wont eat. I thought maybe he was teething. In the mean time I get a cold. I thought it was just allergies but then on Tuesday it turned into a head cold and I am just starting to feel better. Then on Thursday Vincent cried all day long. The only thing I could do to keep him from crying was when he ate and to take him on a walk out side. Then Thursday night was even worse. He wouldn't even eat, he just cried. He was so sad, I could tell he wasn't feeling good and it wasn't just teething. He didn't have a temperature but he was miserable. Then that morning about 3AM he started coughing this awful bark. It sounded like a seal barking. And when he would cough it would hurt him so he would cry which didn't help. So at about 5:30AM Travis took him and I left to go to Walgreen's to get some Infant Tylenol. I thought all Walgreen's RX were 24 Hours, but not the one by my house. So I crossed the street to this gas station to see if they had anything...nothing, but the guy working there said that Wal-Mart was open 24 hours. So I drove to Wal-Mart got the Tylenol and of course like always there was only one register open and like 5 people in line. Finally the guy in front of my only had one little pie with him so I was excited to have him be fast since he didn't have much stuff. NOPE he pays with all nickles and dimes. I was so frustrated. I wanted to just swipe my card and say "Here, it's on me" but I wait my turn and get out of there really fast. I drive home and give Vincent some Tylenol and about a half hour later he falls asleep for about two hours. Which is longer than he has slept at one time all week. Yesterday he was doing better as long as I held him. I took him into the doctors later that afternoon and they gave him some medicine for Croup and said it should stop the coughing but he would probably need some more Tylenol to get feeling 100% better. Well last night Travis and I had to go to two open houses for different Firms that Travis is interested in. Travis' mom kindly watched Vincent for us. He cried pretty much the whole time we were gone. I felt so bad. We ended up leaving early so we could get him and by the time we got to her house he was asleep in her arms looking so cute. SO this morning he is doing a lot better he is still a mama's boy and wants me to hold him all the time, but it's okay. I'm just glad he is feeling better.

This is Vincent getting ready for one of our many walks we had this week. It was a little cold some of the time so he wore his cute little blue hat.

It makes me so sad when the little guys are sick. The worst thing about it is there is nothing you can really do to help them. Good luck! Hope he's doing better soon.

That's so sad. It broke my heart! You are such a good mommy. I'm glad he is feeling a little better now. Now maybe BOTH of you could get some much needed sleep.

As I was reading your post I just knew exactly what you went through...I have had times like that and it can be so hard. I feel for you...but I'm glad he is doing better. That must have been so frustrating when you were running around like that looking for a store to be opened and then the topper was the Walmart line...UGH! :)
I'm glad he is feeling better. Hopefully he will take a nice nap for you today!

Happy Birthday to Whitney. I have been thinking about her a lot this week knowing her birthday was getting close. What a special little girl she is. I bet your Mom is taking such good care of her up there.

You and Travis are such a great example to me. You have been asked to go through some pretty tough things in your life so far, yet you have handled them with such dignity and grace. I hope you know that you are both never alone.

I agree with jon and sarah you guys are great people to handle the trials you have with such grace. I am envious in that regard.

However the croup does not make me envious. I had a week like that once with sami. It was horrible, i was so impatient, lack of sleep does not do me well. but we both made it until that one glorious night she finally slept through!! :) There is a light i believe.
Anyway I Hope that adorable little man is feeling better and his mama is getting her sleep.
